Give over time: Whether through pledges, recurring gifts, or gift planning, you can act now to make more possible in the future.

You may be able to double or triple the impact of your gift. Many employers match their employees’ charitable contributions. To find out if your company will match your gift, please call the CUNY Med Development Office at (212) 650-5276, or contact your company’s human resource department.

Support CUNY School of Medicine students while working to secure your own financial future.

Bequests and Wills

Through different types of bequests to the CUNY School of Medicine, you may be able to secure an estate tax charitable deduction for the value of your gift which provides key support for our mission in years to come.

You may choose to include in your will a sum of money, a percentage of your estate, or another asset you wish to give to CUNY Med. Whichever form of bequest you choose, the gift would be free from federal estate taxes and can significantly reduce the tax burden on your estate. Types of Bequests:

  • Specific – A gift of a specific dollar amount or specific assets, such as securities, real estate or personal property
  • Residual – A gift of a portion of the rest, residue and remainder of your estate after payment of expenses and any specific amounts designated for other beneficiaries
  • Contingent Bequests – A gift only in the event of the death of other beneficiaries or if certain other conditions in your estate plan are met.

Life Income Gifts and Trusts

You can support the CUNY School of Medicine during your lifetime while having enough income for you and your loved ones! Life income gifts, including Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts provide donors with an income stream and significant tax savings, benefiting both the School and the donor…a win-win!! For more information, please contact Cliff Wasser at 212-650-8590.

When you donate appreciated securities or closely-held stock, you could qualify for an income tax deduction and reduce or avoid capital gains taxes. To donate appreciated stock, please instruct your broker to transfer the donated securities from your account to CUNY School of Medicine (through the Foundation for City College):

Account name: The Foundation for City College
Account number: 1700-6311
Delivery to DTC Clearing # 0164, Code 40

The gift date is when our account is credited with ownership of the stock. The share price for securities traded on an exchange will be determined by using the IRS method of calculating the average of the high and low price of the security on the gift date. For more information, please contact Cliff Wasser.

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a qualified charitable distribution of up to $100,000 to the CUNY School of Medicine from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA). Please contact Cliff Wasser for more information.

Benefits of Giving through your IRA:

  • Gift satisfies your required minimum distribution
  • Gift provides support today for programs that are important to you
