Bequests and Wills
Through different types of bequests to the CUNY School of Medicine, you may be able to secure an estate tax charitable deduction for the value of your gift which provides key support for our mission in years to come.
You may choose to include in your will a sum of money, a percentage of your estate, or another asset you wish to give to CUNY Med. Whichever form of bequest you choose, the gift would be free from federal estate taxes and can significantly reduce the tax burden on your estate. Types of Bequests:
- Specific – A gift of a specific dollar amount or specific assets, such as securities, real estate or personal property
- Residual – A gift of a portion of the rest, residue and remainder of your estate after payment of expenses and any specific amounts designated for other beneficiaries
- Contingent Bequests – A gift only in the event of the death of other beneficiaries or if certain other conditions in your estate plan are met.
